In conversation with… Sophie Lea Partyka

Sophie Lea Partyka might just be the ultimate girl next door.

The Sydney-based photographer is a mum of three and a shining example of the Co. Girl. We recently sat down with Sophie to chat about her work, her personal style and what being a mum means to her...

How would you describe your personal style?

Feminine, relaxed, with a touch of modern boho.

Did your style evolve after becoming a mum? If so, how?

Oh, so much! After I had kids, and turned 30, I had a bit of a style dilemma. A lot of my old clothes weren’t practical enough for daily mum life. So after a while of not feeling myself, or having items that made me feel really good, I decided to reinvest in my wardrobe. I found what ended up on high rotation was my quality basics, in great quality fabrics, that washed well, because - KIDS!

What are the pieces in your wardrobe that you wear on repeat?

Jeans, anything linen and breathable – and leather slides.

What do you love most about being a photographer?

Giving my clients images of their kids they never thought were possible. Capturing children is a huge passion of mine. I am obsessed with the whole process of creation - from pregnancy, newborn and beyond. Meeting first-time parents, to parents with a whole tribe, it never gets old. No family is the same, no child is the same. But one thing that links them all, is their connection and love for one another. And that's my favourite thing to capture.

The Holiday Co. is designed for the adventurer, the dreamer, the traveller – which one of these personas speaks to you?

I’m a total dreamer – head in the clouds, optimist type. My creative side dominates my days and can make it hard to tie me down. My eldest daughter is turning out exactly the same. I dream of her and I exploring the world taking beautiful photos together.

What is your favourite piece from the collection?

Kind of like choosing a favourite child here, BUT - the white kaftan is my go-to. I love being able to throw on one thing and be done.

If you were heading on holiday, what three things would we always find in your suitcase?

My camera, sunscreen and my Holiday Co. kaftan.
